Managing the closures of schools can be overwhelming for working parents. Flexibility is key during this period. Here are some tips on how to find a sense of balance as you prepare to work and parent within the confines of coronavirus isolation.

1. Create a designated study space for your Child.
  • Provide a desk or workspace in an area of your home that is conducive for your child’s study.
  •  Make the area well-lit and away from other distractions.
  • Keep helpful study supplies on hand in this area, like colourful post-its, a variety of pens and pencils, highlighters, and scratch paper.

2. Maintain proper time management
  • Ensure your child has a study time table.
  •  Have your child write down important due dates for assigned task and assignments and stick to them.
  •  Make timetable time-specific for individual task.

7. Avoid distraction.
  • Teach your children how to put their computer away and turn off all other devices that may serve as a form of distraction while studying.
  •  Multi-tasking also takes away from learning, so encourage your child to focus on a single subject at a time.
  •  Ensure that your child has healthy sleeping and eating habits in order to maximize their focus and make the most of time spent studying.
